Tuesday Work shop

P1000429

We did `Mums` which is a design by Gill Hobson.  Sheila did very well for her first really large project.P1000430

This was a wall quilted wall hanging  we did a few months back and was finally completed by Sheila.  It was an appliqued Chook – don’t the colours go together well!

A week-end with BADFA Ladies

We all enjoyed a great get together at the Craft Barn this weekend.  Honour showed us how to paint a wooden artists pallet using lots of lively colours.  It was great fun to paint and was interrupted by a yummy cream tea!

On the Saturday I conducted a class on  Catherine Wood`s Sepia Siren and the girls produced wonderful results which they are showing off outside the craft barn.  The girls would like to  thank Catherine for producing such a great project for us to paint and were full of praise for her,  having met her  when she  came to England from the States a while back.

Teddies Galore!

P1000414

Awaiting the birth of my great grand daughter so made a few Teddies.  The patchwork Teddy at the back was completed first and then followed a kit form made of mohair which has a rather stern expression on his face.  The two in the fore-ground are ones that I purchased as they were so sweet.  I have one more to make and then my Teddy faze will hopefully have run its course!  The mohair one I have called Bobby but will let my grand daughter name the patchwork one!

Latest folk painting

P1000402

This picture was completed at one of Gill Hobb`s classes and was painted on a wooden plate.  I enjoyed the challenge of getting the shading and muscle tone to work plus giving it a life-like appearance.  I finished the plate off with a frieze of daisies and clover leaves and it now hangs in my work room with pride!

Painting Class

P1000366

My student`s first attempt at folk art painting – two Xmas cards from the Folk It kit plus a pretty wooden hanging heart.  What a star!  More painting to do next time using the comer stroke for more cards to make.  Going home to practice her brush strokes.

Quilt Exhibition

Fame at last!  Picture 1 is of my sewing machine wall hanging  at the back of the refreshment tent at Villavin Craft`s quilting exhibition held over the week-end – it is the one on the left hand side.  The other one is of my bed throw quilt  – It is on the right-hand side and is apliqued with flowers in various shades of mauve and shows the  `quilt as you go` technique.

Christmas Cards

P1000364

Here are my finished Xmas cards made from a Folk It kit which I purchased recently.  They were great fun to paint and although very simple I enjoyed making them and the results were very effective.  I am going to teach them to my Tuesday class but have run out of material so am off to the shops tomorrow to buy more card!

Another Work Shop Day!

Today we spend a lovely day in the Craft Barn with lots of fun had by one and all – the weather was too hot to venture out although we did have lunch in the garden!

One of the students with her heart shaped plaque and the other with her finished Seminole bag.
